About the Bequin Trilogy series

The Bequin trilogy reunites the surviving cast of Dan Abnett's earlier Eisenhorn and Ravenor trilogies around Alizebeth Bequin, the untouchable psychic-null who served as an aide to Inquisitor Gregor Eisenhorn decades earlier. Pariah (2012) opens with Bequin, now hiding under a false identity in the underhive of a dying hive world, pulled back into the orbit of both her old master Eisenhorn and his former protege-turned-rival Ravenor -- each pursuing her for his own ends as a decades-old conspiracy involving a mysterious cult called the Ordos Sepulturum resurfaces. Penitent (2021) picks up the chase across the war-torn Imperium as Bequin is caught between the two ageing, increasingly extreme inquisitors, both convinced the other has become the greater threat to the Imperium they once served together.

The trilogy functions as a capstone to Abnett's three-decades-long Eisenhorn/Ravenor saga, closing the distance between two protagonists whose paths diverged violently at the end of the Ravenor books. It is written to be read only after both earlier trilogies, since it depends on their accumulated continuity and character history rather than re-introducing it.

Frequently asked questions

How many books are in the Bequin trilogy?

Two novels have been published so far: Pariah (2012) and Penitent (2021). A third and concluding novel, Pandaemonium, has been announced but has no confirmed publication date as of this catalogue's curation.

Is Pandaemonium out yet?

No. As of August 2026 Pandaemonium remains unpublished. Author Dan Abnett has said publicly that the timing is not his decision, and fan discussion links the delay to Games Workshop wanting the relevant lore settled first, likely in connection with other 40K media projects. No release date exists to list.

Do I need to read Eisenhorn and Ravenor before Bequin?

Yes. Bequin directly continues the cast and unresolved plot threads of both earlier trilogies and is not written to stand alone.

Is the short story 'Thorn Wishes Talon' part of this series?

No -- that short story belongs to the earlier Ravenor trilogy's supplementary material, not Bequin. This catalogue tracks novel-length entries only.
