About the Winter Street series
The Winter Street series follows the Quinn family, owners of the Winter Street Inn on Nantucket, across four consecutive Christmases. Patriarch Kelley Quinn runs the inn with his second wife while his four grown children by two marriages -- Patrick, Kevin, Ava, and Bart -- cycle through affairs, career crises, addiction, a deployment, and enough secrets to fuel a full-blown family melodrama every December. Hilderbrand, already established as Nantucket's reigning summer novelist, launched the series in 2014 to do for Christmas what her earlier books had done for beach season: give the island an unmistakable, character-driven holiday voice.
Each book covers one holiday season and ends on enough of a cliffhanger to pull readers into the next installment, with the family's crises escalating from romantic entanglements in book one to a genuine structural threat to the inn itself by the close of the series. Winter Solstice wraps up the Quinn family's four-book arc; the Steele family of Hilderbrand's separate Paradise trilogy is a different cast entirely, despite the superficial echo of "Winter" in that trilogy's opening title.
