The Westmoreland Saga is Judith McNaught's signature historical-romance family saga, centered on the aristocratic Westmoreland family across late-18th and 19th-century England and Scotland. It opens with Whitney, My Love (1985), McNaught's breakout debut about a headstrong young Englishwoman and the brooding Duke of Claymore who has loved her since she was a girl -- a novel widely credited with helping define the modern historical-romance genre. A Kingdom of Dreams (1989) tells an earlier, ancestral chapter of the same family, set generations before Whitney's story, while Until You (1994) continues the Westmoreland line into a new generation.
McNaught's Sequels trilogy (Once and Always, Something Wonderful, Almost Heaven) shares the same historical world and occasional crossover characters but follows its own separate families, and is tracked here as a distinct series rather than folded into the Westmoreland books.
Publication order: Whitney, My Love (1985), A Kingdom of Dreams (1989), Until You (1994). Some readers prefer to read A Kingdom of Dreams first for in-world chronology, since it covers an earlier generation, but Whitney, My Love is the conventional starting point.
They share the same historical romance world and occasional references, but follow different families and are tracked as separate series.
No. Judith McNaught has not published a new historical romance since Until You (1994); she shifted to contemporary romance afterward.
