About the Vengeance series
Fifteen-year-old Rylee Cassidey comes home from school to find her father dead, a knife through his heart and a key clutched in his hand. That discovery launches Gregg Olsen's young-adult Vengeance series, which follows Rylee as she pieces together the truth about her family and starts settling scores of her own -- lying, reinventing herself, and hunting down people who got away with hurting the people she loved. The second book sends her to Portland, tracking a serial killer terrorizing Portland State University students.
It's a notably darker register than most YA thriller series, closer in tone to Olsen's adult crime fiction than to typical teen mystery -- unsurprising, given Olsen's true-crime background.
