The Ravenhood is Kate Stewart's saga of three childhood best friends — Aria, Grif and Sean — whose bond curdles into a tangled, years-spanning love triangle shadowed by an organised-crime underworld in New Orleans. The original trilogy tells the same overlapping years from each character's perspective rather than a single linear timeline, which is unusual for the genre and part of why it built such a devoted following: you get the same betrayals and turning points recoloured by whoever's narrating. It's dark, literary-leaning contemporary romance with morally grey characters, addiction and grief woven through the central love story, not a light read despite the crime-family gloss.

The Ravenhood Legacy trilogy is a direct spin-off that picks up a new generation's story after the original trilogy ends, following characters connected to the first three books (starting with Dominic, a figure from the Ravenhood's world) rather than repeating Aria, Grif and Sean's story. Together the two trilogies form a six-book saga usually discussed as one continuous "Ravenhood universe."
