Andrew Grant's third and final series under his own name before he joined his brother Lee Child on Jack Reacher (as Andrew Child). Paul McGrath is a former Army intelligence officer who rebelled against his pacifist father to join up, then came home to find that father murdered — and the trial that followed ending in a hung jury with one inexplicable holdout. Unable to let it go, McGrath takes a job as a courthouse janitor: the perfect cover, giving him security clearance and run of the building while making him invisible to everyone in it. Invisible (2019) sets up that premise as he starts pulling at the case's threads; Too Close to Home (2020) continues directly from it, as McGrath discovers a file gone missing from the case against the man he believes killed his father, stumbles into an unrelated arson case with its own rot underneath, and is pulled back to his family home by an old housekeeper's death, into secrets about the mother he lost as a child.
Two: Invisible (2019) and Too Close to Home (2020).
Grant shifted to co-writing Jack Reacher with his brother Lee Child starting with The Sentinel (2020), publishing that work under the name Andrew Child; no further Paul McGrath novel has followed.
