Lux is Jennifer L. Armentrout's alien-romance series and one of the biggest breakout YA hits of the early 2010s. Katy, a book-blogger who's just moved to small-town West Virginia, falls for her intense, hot-and-cold new neighbor Daemon — who turns out to be an alien Luxen hiding from a government agency that hunts his kind. What starts as enemies-to-lovers sparring escalates into government conspiracies, alien warfare, and one of the genre's most quoted love-hate romances.
Published primarily in 2011-2014, the five core novels are supplemented by two companion novellas — Shadows (a prequel following different characters) and Oblivion (a retelling of Obsidian from Daemon's point of view). The series was a multi-year fixture on bestseller lists and later spawned the Origin spin-off quartet following a new generation of characters.
Five core novels — Obsidian, Onyx, Opal, Origin, and Opposition — plus two companion novellas, Shadows (a prequel) and Oblivion (Obsidian retold from Daemon's POV).
Obsidian, Onyx, Opal, Origin, Opposition. Shadows can be read anytime; Oblivion is best saved for after the main series since it retells book one from Daemon's perspective.
