About the Happily Ever After series

Happily Ever After is a run of connected Regency-era novellas by Eloisa James centered on the Reeve and Barry families, each shorter and more tightly focused than her full-length series entries. Storming the Castle (2010) and Winning the Wallflower (2011) open the run, followed by Seduced by a Pirate (2012) and the three-part serialized novella With This Kiss (2013), which follows two linked romances -- Lady Grace Ryburn and Colin Barry, and Sir Griffin Barry's return to claim the wife he left behind.

The novella format let James move at a faster pace than her full novels, and With This Kiss in particular directly continues the Barry family story that Seduced by a Pirate began, giving the run a tighter internal continuity than some of her longer series.

Frequently asked questions

How many books are in this Happily Ever After novella run?

Four: Storming the Castle (2010), Winning the Wallflower (2011), Seduced by a Pirate (2012), and With This Kiss (2013).

Is With This Kiss connected to Seduced by a Pirate?

Yes -- both involve the Barry family; With This Kiss was originally serialized in three e-book parts before being collected into one edition.

Is As You Wish a separate book?

No -- As You Wish is a single-volume print bind-up combining With This Kiss and Seduced by a Pirate, not a new original work, so it isn't tracked here as a separate entry.

Do I need to read these novellas in order?

Seduced by a Pirate and With This Kiss share characters and are best read in that order; Storming the Castle and Winning the Wallflower are more standalone.

Is this series connected to James's Fairy Tales books?

No -- despite overlapping publication years, they're separate, unconnected series.
