About the Dreaming Cities series

The Dreaming Cities duology is Guy Haley's post-apocalyptic weird-western duology, mashing up dying-earth fantasy, frontier-western tropes and zombie horror in the ruins of a far-future United States. The Emperor's Railroad (2016) follows Abney Farrell, a young boy, and his mother's mercenary bodyguard Quinn as they flee a horde of the risen dead across a landscape of dragons, knights and derelict frontier towns. The Ghoul King (2016) is a direct sequel continuing Quinn and Abney's journey.

Both novellas were published by Tor.com Publishing under Haley's own name, distinct from the fantasy Gates of the World trilogy he wrote as K. M. McKinley.
