About the Cupcake Cafe series
Issy Randall loses her job in finance and, with a treasured collection of her late grandfather's recipes and a talent for baking, decides to open her own cupcake shop in London rather than look for another office job. Meet Me at the Cupcake Cafe (2011) follows the shop's rocky first year; Christmas at the Cupcake Cafe (2012) returns to Issy and her business for a second, festive instalment. An early entry in Jenny Colgan's recurring template of a woman building a small food business into a new life, the duology helped establish the food-shop-and-community formula she'd return to repeatedly in later series such as Little Beach Street Bakery and Rosie Hopkins' Sweetshop.
