About the Covenant series

Covenant is Jennifer L. Armentrout's breakout young-adult series, set in a modern world where the descendants of Greek gods — Purebloods and Half-Bloods — train in secret "Covenants" to fight rogue immortals called daimons. Alex, a rebellious Half-Blood, is forced back into Covenant training and into the orbit of Aiden, her forbidden Pureblood instructor, while a prophecy about a Half-Blood who can become an Apollyon — a being with the power of a god — puts her at the center of a war she never wanted. It's fast, romance-forward urban fantasy with a love triangle, godly politics, and a body count.

Published between 2011 and 2013, the five-book series (plus two connecting novellas) was Armentrout's first major hit and established the template — intense forbidden romance layered over supernatural mythology — that she'd repeat across Lux, Wicked, and Blood and Ash. The world continues in the spin-off Titan series, set a generation later.

Frequently asked questions

How many books are in the Covenant series?

Five novels — Half-Blood, Pure, Deity, Apollyon, and Sentinel — plus two novellas, Daimon (prequel) and Elixir (a companion piece set between Deity and Apollyon).

What order should I read Covenant in?

Daimon, Half-Blood, Pure, Deity, Elixir, Apollyon, Sentinel. Daimon and Elixir are optional novellas but fill in backstory and a supporting POV.

Is Covenant connected to Titan?

Yes — Titan is a direct spin-off series set in the same world a generation later. Read Covenant first; Titan assumes familiarity with its ending.

Is Covenant finished?

Yes, the core series concluded with Sentinel in 2013, and the spin-off Titan series is also complete.

Is Covenant connected to Jennifer L. Armentrout's other series like Lux or Blood and Ash?

No — Covenant, Lux, and Blood and Ash are separate universes with no shared characters, though all share Armentrout's signature blend of paranormal mythology and forbidden romance.
