Michael Ledwidge is an American novelist best known as one of James Patterson's longtime co-authors, a partnership that began after Ledwidge's own debut thriller caught Patterson's attention in the mid-2000s. Their collaboration became one of the most productive in Patterson's stable of co-writers, spanning the Michael Bennett series about a widowed NYPD detective raising ten adopted children while investigating major cases, as well as standalone thrillers and the Zoo series, which imagines a near-future ecological collapse triggering a global wave of animal attacks on humans. Before turning to fiction full-time, Ledwidge worked a series of jobs in New York City, including as a doorman, which gave him firsthand exposure to the city's texture and rhythms later reflected in his crime writing. His solo work includes thrillers written under his own name, but he remains most widely read through the Patterson collaborations, where his contributions helped shape the fast-paced, chapter-driven style associated with the brand. He continues to write and co-write commercial thrillers, working primarily out of the New York area.
