Gregg Hurwitz

Gregg Hurwitz has written 32 books across 2 series. Start with Tim Rackley.

Gregg Hurwitz is an American thriller author best known for the Orphan X series, following Evan Smoak, a former deep-cover intelligence asset trained from childhood in a black-ops program called the Orphan Program who now operates off the grid as an anonymous protector for people with nowhere else to turn. Beginning with Orphan X in 2016, the series has become one of the more acclaimed modern entries in the lone-operative thriller tradition, praised for grounding its action in genuine emotional stakes around identity, found family, and the psychological cost of a childhood built for violence, rather than relying purely on spectacle. Before Orphan X, Hurwitz wrote a run of well-regarded standalone thrillers, including The Kill Clause and Trust No One, and worked extensively in comics and screenwriting, including scripts for Marvel's Wolverine. New readers should start with Orphan X to meet Evan Smoak from the beginning, since the series builds his backstory and world progressively across installments. There is no film or television adaptation of the Orphan X novels to date, though the series has been in development for adaptation. Hurwitz continues to publish new entries in the series on a regular schedule.
