Chloe Liese has written 17 books across 3 series. Start with Tough Love.
Chloe Liese is an American contemporary romance author best known for the Bergman Brothers series, which follows a large Swedish-American family of siblings through interconnected romances that combine emotional depth with a strong current of humor and warmth. Several of the Bergman books, including Only When It's Us, feature neurodivergent and chronically ill main characters portrayed with unusual specificity and care -- a reflection of Liese's own experience living with autism and rheumatoid arthritis, which she has written and spoken about openly.
Before her romance career, Liese studied Shakespeare and literature, and that background shows in her fondness for close-quarters, banter-driven romantic tension and occasional literary allusion layered into otherwise contemporary, sports- and family-centered plots. Beyond the Bergman Brothers, she has written the Wilmot sisters duology and several other contemporary romance series, generally sharing the same emphasis on representation and emotionally grounded conflict.
A new reader should start with Only When It's Us, the first Bergman Brothers novel, which introduces the family and the series' template of pairing a neurodivergent or physically different lead with a partner who learns to meet them where they are. There is no film or TV adaptation to date.
